Rhonda (Kite) Fields - Lady Trojans Head Coach
Coach Rhonda Fields is beginning 30 years of coaching girl’s basketball in Oklahoma. She has raised a family here and lived in
Oklahoma her entire life. Competitive and recreational sports have been a huge part of her family life-style.

time (6 on 6). She played two years at Eastern State College, where they achieved national rankings during the seasons. When
recruiting began after her sophomore year, she chose Oklahoma State University from 43 Division I colleges that were offering full
scholarships for the first time, due to a new law that had passed in 1973 called, Title IX. This same law had opened the door for a full
scholarship to Eastern two years earlier and now four-year institutions had progressed to equal opportunities. She became the first
full-scholarship female athlete in Oklahoma State University history, is a member of the 1000 Point Club, Lifetime O-Club member and
still holds two records in the Cowgirl Basketball Media Guide that is sent out yearly.
As doors continued to open under Title IX, a women’s professional basketball league was formed called the WBL (Women’s
Basketball League). Rhonda Kite became the first female from OSU to be “drafted” into a women’s professional sport.
As a basketball coach, she has made seven State Tournament appearances, with a State Runner-Up finish in 1995. She has
coached forteen All-Staters and has received numerous honors and awards, but one of the most memorable was being named the
Oklahoma Coaches Association Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 2005. She has been very active in the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes as a school sponsor, speaker and camp coach. FCA is also deeply rooted within her family.
Coach Fields is married to Wendall Fields. He played baseball at East Central University and has worked 23 years for Follett Corp. (an
